Ticknock Forest Park is located 45 minutes south of Dublin city center by vehicle and 1 hour and 10 minutes by bus. It's a moderately difficult trek with a wonderful view of the Irish Sea, Dublin City, Dublin Bay, Bray Head, and the Wicklow Mountains. In fact, Ticknock has multiple routes that lead to Tibradden and Wicklow Mountains.
The Fairy Castle Short-Loop trip goes about 5-kilometers and takes between 1 hour and 30 minutes and 2 hours to complete. Fairy Castle Vertical Climb is a 7-kilometer route that begins at Lamb Doyle's Pub, and Fairy Castle Long Loop is an 18-kilometer route that begins at Lamb Doyle's Pub.
Ticknock is not just for hikers, it has dirt paths for bikes throughout the forest. The trails are marked in one direction by red arrows. If you don’t have a bike, there is a bike rental that offers everything you need!
No matter how you get around Ticknock Forest, you have to be sure to stop and admire the view!
